For this assignment I looked on the website of Nike Inc. and it was interesting to see what I found. First off I was taken to the home page which was just a display of Nike's newest shoes and links to purchasing those shoes along with tabs specified to gender specific apparel. Did I find anything about how Nike outsources its labor overseas? No. After clicking through every tab and bottom of the screen links there was not a trace of outsourcing or a history of it to be found. However, Nike showcases how they use recycled polyester for their shoes and other ways they are making a positive impact on the environment. To find information such as this was relatively easy since it is usually under the "About" tab or link. Of course all of the information displayed on Nike's site was positive and seemed biased as any major company that is known world-wide. As for the images on the website it is of course many many pictures of the products for sale, which includes shoes, clothing and accessories. Nike is a very successful company that won't disappear overnight, by maintaining its reputation and credibility, Nike needs the consumers money to stay afloat in the competitive market of footwear and sports wear. To gain the attention of consumers Nike advertises in many ways, tv commercials, ads on the internet, billboards and many more ways. Nike uses Ethos and Logos mainly in their advertisement. The ethos aspect is seen in how Nike sends the message that they are the brand to go with because they are better than their competitors, that they are better when it comes to the product and lastly that they are better for the person buying the product. The logos aspect is seen in how Nike is basically throwing it out there that the best of the best use Nike, that they aren't the brand that people settle for they are logically the way to go even if its costly.
